Java 101: Lesson 1 - What do you need?

Hey, this will be the first of several posts regarding the use of java, I’m not an expert, but I know enough to teach the basics, so first of all, Java is and object oriented language that works on any architecture thanks to a virtual machine the downside of this is that the language is a little slower compiling,etc.
For starters you will need to download the Java Development Kit, you can do that here, after downloading the JDK, you will need an integrated development environment (IDE), I recommend you get eclipse or netbeans, Both of them are good, but I’ve been using netbeans lately so if I use any images in this set of tutorial I’ll post netbeans’s ones.

These IDE’s uses more memory than regular ones, but they have a lot more functions and options, if your computer is kind of old or you don’t want another CPU eating app I recommend you use BlueJ which is a wonderfull IDE for beginners.
That’s all you need to make a Java app or any kind of software you want using Java, I’ll be doing this tutorials starting from the basic, so if you don’t know anything about programming don’t worry!
In the next lesson we will write our first lines of java code, this lesson was kind of short, I’ll try to keep them this way, but not as shorter as this one.
