Welcome Corei7
Monday, November 3, 2008 14:41Two years ago Intel presented the Core 2 Duo processors, now Corei7 is almost ready for selling, and this one is going to mark a lot of difference between him and his predecessor, Intel plans to start selling them this year, the “extreme” family at least, so we may start seeing this ones in the wild sooner than we think, and I can’t wait until it happens.
However some people already got one of them and of course they benchmarked it, they said that its 25% at coding video and 100% faster at stuff like file decompression, of course these marks may change, and this is the extreme family so the ones most people will get are not going to be as faster as these ones, they also claim that the Core i7-965 Extreme Edition is capable of 80 GFLOPS of raw processing… if you don’t know what is that it means it fast…. really fast.
I think this will finally give us a change at general speed, and when the mobile versions come out even the notebooks will have a lot of processor power, not that they don’t have it today, but the difference between laptop revision nowadays are so small tha you can’t tell the difference performance-wise. Anyways, well have to wait until the final product arrives so we can give Corei7 a final veredict.
